We cordially invite you to the 19th annual international Banská Bystrica Theatrological Conference entitled "Theatre and Interfaces". The conference will take place on November 25 and 26, 2022 in Banská Bystrica, at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts of the Academy of Arts.

→ Theatre, as a synthetic art and at the same time a process of dialogic communication, has constantly been and is located at variable interactive interfaces - with other types of art, cultural and social areas, media, but also sciences such as sociology, psychology, anthropology, culturology, politics, therapy, ecology, education, etc. As a living art, it has very actively and naturally transformed the boundaries between art, society, nature, various artificial technologies or gender designations. Theatre transcends these areas, intervenes, influences them, draws from them, adopts and adapts elements originally foreign to theatre and subsequently models the artistic and social discourse. New or modified procedures, contents, techniques, forms, environments in the broadest sense of the word are emerging. From the perspective of recent experiences, we are also interested in the question of the (loss) liveliness of theatre under the influence of the crisis of the natural human and social environment, theatre communication at a distance (so-called theatre without theatre and theatre without an audience), but also inventive innovations as reactions to this state. We are increasingly encountering articulations of concern about the loss of theatre community related to the dying out of dialogue and monological self-sufficiency. The conference opens a space for humanities and theatre scholars, educators, critics, creators and doctoral students.

The aim of the conference is to bring and compare international knowledge about theatre as a more broadly understood performing art from multiple perspectives, which in the current online and digital cultural stage acquire new contexts and often require their own creative solutions from creators, audiences and theorists.
